Rainbow Sponsorship
Orphanage Sponsorship is a great way to help us to help children for the long term.
By sponsoring the Working For Children- Rainbow Orphanage, you help us to provide health care, education, food and shelter for orphaned or abandoned children, an opportunity for them to grow up in a safe, caring and secure environment among friends and people who care for them. The orphanage receives no government assistance. So we rely on the donations from private individuals. Our greatest need is for regular on-going donations that will support the work that we do.
FOOD:
We need to provide nutritious FOOD for the children 365 days a year. We are working hard to move in the direction of being self sustaining, and have vegetable gardens fish breeding dams and have started animal husbandry programs which include the raising of chickens, ducks and pigs. But rice is the basis of our daily meals for 40 people this has to be bought at market ( at prices which are linked to rising to domestic and overseas prices,) Our current food budget is US$ 111o a month (US$ 37 a day).
EDUCATION:
” If it is poverty which keeps children out of school- then clearly it is poverty which keeps children out of poverty.” Rainbow is committed to having every child at school and providing support for each child in terms of meeting school fees, providing learning materials , uniforms and a bike to travel back and forth. Most of children currently are ready to move up to secondary, high school, other are in need of vocational training to bridge the gap to employment. We believe that the free out-of-school tuition in Math’s , Chemistry, science and English, we provide will give them a head start. Our current costs are running Education only at US$ 670 a month.
HEALTH:
In order to meet the daily health needs of each child to provide health checks at the local clinic, purchase appropriate pharmaceuticals current first aid materials and (when necessary) provide medical and hospital care for seriously ill children. We budget an amount of US$ 120 a month.
CLOTHING.
We purchase used clothing for home and work and buy new two or three sets of school uniforms per year for each child as they grow. We also assist the children to participate in the ceremonial life of the temple by providing Ceremony clothing for special temple occasions and performances. Mosquito nets and blankets are shared. Our current costs are US$ 70 per month.
