WFC is a non-profit charity organization, mainly depending on donations from both individuals and organizations to rebuild human resources in particular children, reduce poverty by assisting orphans and vulnerable children, improving the school environment, and developing rural communities in Cambodia.
Who We Are
Cambodia endured severe hardships during the Pol Pot genocide regime, which led to widespread poverty and a lack of education, particularly in rural areas. To improve the quality of life nationwide, both the government and international partners have made concerted efforts to address these issues, focusing especially on educating the next generation.
Working For Children is a non-profit charity organization, registered under No. 190, and founded in 2007. As an independent aid organization, WFC relies primarily on donations from individuals and organizations to support its education and development programs for children.
Our Mission
WFC is dedicated to:
- Rebuilding human resources, particularly for children
- Reducing poverty by assisting orphans and vulnerable children
- Improving the school environment
- Developing rural communities in Cambodia
With limited resources, WFC has chosen Reul commune, located about 29 km northwest of Krong Siem Reap, as the starting point for its projects. Although Siem Reap is a popular tourist destination that benefits many locals, Reul remains one of the poorest and most underprivileged areas in Cambodia. WFC aims to achieve its goals through continually enhancing and improving its efforts.
Our Mission
To ensure that less fortunate children in rural communities are cared for and provided with educational opportunities, enabling them to break the cycle of poverty. (Education for all, Learn to help yourselves, Learn for your families, and Learn for your communities.)
Our Goals
- To impoverish children, ensuring they have full access to education through school and vocational training.
- To assist children living with impoverished families in villages, enabling them to continue their education and open up employment opportunities.
- To relieve the hardship of orphaned, impoverished, and vulnerable children whose parents have been victims of war and landmines.
- To offer out-of-school English, mathematics, Khmer literature, and subjects for national exam classes to supplement the school curriculum for both residential and village children.
- To extend children's understanding of and skills in traditional Khmer culture through classes in craft, dance, music, and sewing at Akids school.
- To model sound ecological principles by setting up vegetable gardens, orchards, fish breeding dams, and mushroom farms, contributing to the self-sustainability of communities.
- To teach villagers and their children how to grow and care for home gardens as a method to prevent malnutrition. By maintaining a home garden with varied vegetables, they will not need to buy extra produce.
- To improve the school environment and water quality for children at school.
